Hello

My name is Dr. Sharon Hou, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in Psychosocial Oncology.

Supervisor: Dr. Fiona Schulte

Research Project: The development of a national aftercare strategy for survivors of childhood cancer from a socio-cultural perspective

My Story

Dr. Hou is a Postdoctoral Associate and her research is supported by the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and the Cumming School of medicine Postdoctoral Scholarship at the University of Calgary. Completing her research, Dr. Hou holds a clinical position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at BC Children’s Hospital in Oncology Long-Term Follow-Up. She earned her MA and PhD in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Guelph, and she completed her predoctoral residency at Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Hou seeks to build a program of research focused on examining social and cultural determinants of child health, embedded within a clinical setting. She has a special interest in the study of migrant groups (e.g., immigrant families), acculturation, and cultural characteristics (values, attitudes, and beliefs) in relation to child and family outcomes.
