Hello
My name is Emma McLaughlin, I am a PhD in the Faculty of Kinesiology with specialization in Health, Exercise, and Sports Psychology.
Supervisor: Dr. Nicole Culos-Reed
Research Project: Tracking the dissemination and implementation of the international Pediatric Oncology Exercise Guidelines (iPOEG) Toolkits via partnerships with end-users
My Story
I joined the Health and Wellness Lab in May 2019, after completing my BKinH at Acadia University. I completed my MSc in Summer 2021, and started my PhD in Fall 2021. Since joining the lab I have become actively involved in ongoing research studies, and teach several weekly exercise classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer, and their support people. Outside of the lab, I am a Graduate Scholar in the Graduate College, VP Student Life of the Kinesiology Graduate Student Association, and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Thrive Centre. My PhD is supported by Eye’s High Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship from the University of Calgary Faculty of Graduate Studies, and the TRACTION Program.

Upon completion of my PhD degree, I intend to complete my MD with the ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric oncologist with a strong research program focused on wellness/health promotion.
